2026 Pet Tech Transparency Report: Privacy, Subscriptions, Support, and Product Availability

Original documentation research

This first annual baseline records what current public documents disclose—and leave unresolved—about eight pet-technology ecosystems across privacy, subscriptions, support, update, deletion, vulnerability, status, household-access, price, and availability fields.

Evidence boundary: Pet Signal Guide did not buy, install, connect, subscribe to, cancel, delete, update, share, support-test, security-test, or otherwise operate any product in this report. No vendor was contacted. The 2026 edition is a documentation baseline, not a scorecard, ranking, certification, recommendation, market census, or year-over-year comparison.

Quick answer

This report is a documentation baseline for eight pet-technology ecosystems, not a product winner list.

Public records are usually clearer about identity and current offers than about support periods, vulnerability routes, deletion consequences, or incident communication.

Use the unresolved and conflicting fields as questions to verify before purchase, setup, sharing, renewal, or cancellation.

Key facts

  • Eight exact ecosystems are covered: trackers, an item tag, cameras, and feeders.
  • Ninety-six field cells are classified as current, dated, partial, conflict, not found, or not applicable.
  • Counts measure public verifiability, not security, privacy, reliability, value, or suitability.
  • The sample is bounded and is not a market census or year-over-year comparison.

Baseline findings

Public documentation is strongest at telling buyers what a product is and what it costs today. It is much less consistent at telling them how long the exact product will receive support, where to report a vulnerability, how a service incident is communicated, or whether account deletion also ends billing and removes cloud data.

The baseline contains 96 product-field cells: 40 have a current public record, 2 rely on materially dated records, 34 are partial, 4 contain an official-source conflict, 12 were not established in the bounded official-source search, and 4 are not applicable to the documented architecture.

Those counts are not scores. A product with more public documentation is not automatically more secure, private, reliable, or suitable. A missing public record can reflect a documentation gap, a different URL, an authenticated workflow, or a capability that was not located. The report measures verifiability from public records—not implementation quality.

Use the product and model labels as a scope map, not a ranking; the Fi, Tractive, and AirTag records are anchored to their current primary product pages. Check the current primary record: support.tryfi.com.

What the report measures

The unit of analysis is an exact product ecosystem in the United States on the checked date. “Ecosystem” can include hardware, firmware, mobile app, account, vendor cloud, subscription, help center, privacy notice, security page, household-sharing workflow, and support policy.

Twelve fields are recorded: exact identity and availability; hardware price; recurring-fee architecture; renewal and cancellation; privacy notice; data access, export, and deletion; software updates; support period; vulnerability reporting; incident/status support; household access; and material conflicts or unknowns.

Each field uses one of six states: current public record, dated public record, partial, conflict, not found in the bounded search, or not applicable. “Not found” is never rewritten as “the vendor does not have this.”

Products in the baseline

The sample covers two cellular pet trackers, one crowd-network item tag, three connected cameras, and two connected feeders:

  • Fi Series 3+
  • Tractive DOG 6
  • Apple AirTag, second generation
  • Petcube Cam 360
  • Furbo 360° Dog Camera, model Furbo3
  • Wyze Cam Pan v3
  • PETLIBRO One RFID Smart Feeder, model PLAF301
  • PetSafe Smart Feed Automatic Dog and Cat Feeder, second generation, model PFD00-16828

The sample is intentionally bounded. It is not a list of the best products, every product sold in the United States, the most popular products, or products selected for affiliate value. It follows the exact products already used in Pet Signal Guide’s location, camera, feeder, privacy, pricing, and connectivity research packages.

Disclosure dashboard

Identity and current price are usually easier to verify than lifecycle and security-support fields. Across the eight products, exact support-period and vulnerability-route disclosure is uneven. Account deletion is also easy to overstate because a vendor may document device unlink, account deletion, subscription cancellation, and data rights in separate places.

On smaller screens, scroll the table horizontally.

Field Current Dated Partial Conflict Not found N/A
D01 — Exact identity and current availability 8 0 0 0 0 0
D02 — Hardware price disclosure 6 0 1 1 0 0
D03 — Recurring fee architecture 6 0 0 0 0 2
D04 — Renewal, pause, and cancellation 3 0 2 1 0 2
D05 — Privacy notice and effective date 2 2 4 0 0 0
D06 — Data access, export, and deletion 4 0 2 1 1 0
D07 — Software and firmware updates 2 0 5 0 1 0
D08 — Support period and end-of-life disclosure 3 0 0 0 5 0

D11 — Household access and revocation 2 0 5 0 1 0
D12 — Conflicts and material unknowns 0 0 7 1 0 0

The dashboard counts documentation states. A current public record is not a security, privacy, reliability, or suitability verdict.

The dashboard should be read as a work queue. A conflict means the official records need reconciliation. A partial field means the buyer can verify only part of the question. A not-found field means the public-source search did not establish it. None of those states is a product verdict.

Price and product availability

Price transparency begins by separating a regular hardware amount from a sale, bundle, required membership, first-year discount, annual monthly-equivalent display, tax, shipping, activation, accessories, and future renewal.

On smaller screens, scroll the table horizontally.

Product Retained hardware baseline Price status Recurring path Renewal/cancel record
Fi Series 3+ Not frozen as hardware-only Partial Required Current public record
Tractive DOG 6 $79.00 Current public record Required Current public record
Apple AirTag (2nd generation) $29.00 Current public record None for core path Not applicable
Petcube Cam 360 $52.99 Current public record Optional Current public record
Furbo 360° Dog Camera $129.00 Conflict Optional Conflict
Wyze Cam Pan v3 $44.98 Current public record Optional Partial
PETLIBRO One RFID Smart Feeder $149.99 Current public record Optional Partial
PetSafe Smart Feed Gen 2 $134.99 Current public record None for core path Not applicable

A retained hardware amount and a recurring plan are separate fields; check the current Petcube and Furbo product/plan pages before relying on an offer. Check the current primary record: www.apple.com.

Fi is retained without a stable hardware-only baseline because its current purchase paths are membership-linked. Tractive’s retained regular hardware amount is $79, but the product and plan surfaces are location-sensitive. AirTag’s current US display is $29 for one and $99 for four, but it remains a personal-item tag rather than dedicated pet telemetry.

Petcube’s regular Cam 360 display is kept separate from temporary promotions. Furbo’s camera-only and promotional subscription surfaces cannot be merged into one baseline. Wyze, PETLIBRO, and PetSafe displays also remain checked-date amounts—not complete checkout totals or future guarantees.

Subscriptions, renewal, and cancellation

Fi and Tractive require paid service for remote tracking. AirTag has no product-specific recurring plan for ordinary Find My item use. Petcube, Furbo, Wyze, and PETLIBRO have optional paid service paths for selected cloud history, alerts, or service features. The retained PetSafe feeder path has no required paid recurring fee for core scheduling.

Renewal, cancellation, account deletion, device unlink, and data deletion are not interchangeable. Stopping renewal may leave access active until the paid term ends. Deleting an account may not reverse a transaction already being processed by an app store or seller. A service can also have a longer commitment even when charges are presented monthly.

The buyer should keep the seller of record, plan term, renewal date, cancellation confirmation, and payment-method follow-up in one record. Pet Signal Guide’s total-cost method explains why unknown required charges stay unknown rather than becoming zero.

Privacy notices and effective dates

A privacy notice is evidence of a public statement. It is not proof that the product, app, cloud system, support process, or data deletion works exactly as described.

On smaller screens, scroll the table horizontally.

Product Privacy notice Data rights/deletion Important limitation
Fi Series 3+ Dated public record Current public record Fi publishes a privacy notice effective April 2, 2024; implementation was not audited.
Tractive DOG 6 Partial Current public record Data categories and privacy-policy routing are public, but a complete US-rights and policy-version analysis was not completed.
Apple AirTag (2nd generation) Partial Partial Find My security design is public, but this baseline does not reproduce a full AirTag-specific privacy-notice matrix.
Petcube Cam 360 Dated public record Partial Reviewed privacy notice is effective September 17, 2021 and materially dated.
Furbo 360° Dog Camera Partial Conflict Security guidance is public, but a current comprehensive extractable privacy notice was not captured in the bounded snapshot.
Wyze Cam Pan v3 Current public record Current public record Current privacy policy effective May 19, 2026 is public.
PETLIBRO One RFID Smart Feeder Current public record Current public record Current privacy policy route and data-control statements are public.
PetSafe Smart Feed Gen 2 Partial Not found in bounded search A corporate privacy notice exists, but an exact current product/app notice and rights matrix were not frozen.

Renewal and cancellation records can be partial or conflicting, so treat this table as a verification queue rather than a promise about checkout. Check the current primary record: petcube.com.

Petcube’s retained privacy notice is materially dated, with an effective date in 2021. Fi’s retained notice is newer but still documentation rather than an implementation audit. Wyze and PETLIBRO publish current policy and data-control material. Furbo’s current comprehensive privacy-policy capture remains incomplete in the bounded baseline, despite public security guidance. PetSafe has a corporate privacy notice, while exact feeder-app deletion and export fields remain unresolved.

AirTag relies on broader Find My and Apple platform documentation. That documentation can explain system design and account removal without creating a separate AirTag-specific privacy or support-period record.

Data, device, and account deletion

Before leaving a product ecosystem, separate at least four questions:

  1. Has recurring billing been stopped with the actual seller?
  2. Has the device been unlinked or reset for transfer?
  3. Has the user account been deleted?
  4. What happens to cloud history, exported data, backups, and legally retained records?

Fi, Tractive, Wyze, and PETLIBRO publish account-deletion or data-control workflows. Petcube’s retained record establishes device unlink but not a complete current account-and-cloud deletion result. Furbo’s deletion and cancellation records remain materially difficult to reconcile. PetSafe’s exact feeder-app deletion/export workflow was not established in the bounded source set.

No deletion was executed for this report. A successful menu path, confirmation email, or vendor statement would still need to be distinguished from independently verified backend deletion.

Software updates and minimum support periods

A current sale page is not a promise of future support. A warranty is not a security-support period. A firmware article proves that updates are documented; it does not establish how long updates will continue.

On smaller screens, scroll the table horizontally.

Product Update disclosure Exact support period Finding
Fi Series 3+ Partial Not found in bounded search A warranty exists, but no exact public minimum security-support or end-of-life date was established.
Tractive DOG 6 Partial Not found in bounded search No exact public DOG 6 security-support end date or end-of-life commitment was established.
Apple AirTag (2nd generation) Current public record Not found in bounded search No exact public minimum support period or end-of-life date for AirTag was established.
Petcube Cam 360 Partial Current public record Cam 360 support is publicly stated through December 31, 2028, subject to vendor policy.
Furbo 360° Dog Camera Current public record Current public record Vendor states support through at least 2028 for the described product scope.
Wyze Cam Pan v3 Partial Not found in bounded search The reviewed public support table did not establish an exact Cam Pan v3 end date.
PETLIBRO One RFID Smart Feeder Partial Current public record PLAF301 support period is publicly listed through December 31, 2027.
PetSafe Smart Feed Gen 2 Not found in bounded search Not found in bounded search Warranty/return routes exist, but no public exact support-end date or EOL commitment was established.

Privacy notices describe the vendor’s stated policy scope; they do not establish the untested implementation or backend behavior.

Exact retained support-period statements were found for Petcube Cam 360 through December 31, 2028; Furbo3 through at least 2028 under the vendor’s stated scope; and PETLIBRO PLAF301 through December 31, 2027. Those are vendor statements, not independent guarantees.

No exact public support-end date was established for Fi Series 3+, Tractive DOG 6, AirTag, Wyze Cam Pan v3, or PetSafe Smart Feed Gen 2 in the retained snapshot. Wyze publishes a support-period table, but the exact Cam Pan v3 date was not found in that table.

Vulnerability reporting, service status, and household access

Vulnerability reporting and customer support are different routes. A help center is not automatically a vulnerability-disclosure program, and neither is automatically a live service-status page.

On smaller screens, scroll the table horizontally.

Product Vulnerability route Incident/status route Household access
Fi Series 3+ Not found in bounded search Partial Partial
Tractive DOG 6 Current public record Partial Partial
Apple AirTag (2nd generation) Not found in bounded search Partial Current public record
Petcube Cam 360 Current public record Partial Partial
Furbo 360° Dog Camera Partial Partial Current public record
Wyze Cam Pan v3 Current public record Current public record Partial
PETLIBRO One RFID Smart Feeder Not found in bounded search Partial Partial
PetSafe Smart Feed Gen 2 Not found in bounded search Partial Not found in bounded search

Deletion, unlinking, billing cancellation, and cloud-data removal can be different workflows; confirm each one separately.

Public vulnerability routes were established for Tractive, Petcube, and Wyze. Furbo retains partial security-contact evidence. Exact product routes were not established for Fi, AirTag, PETLIBRO PLAF301, or PetSafe PFD00-16828 in this bounded baseline.

Wyze has a public service-status/support route. Other ecosystems commonly provide help centers or contact pages, but those do not necessarily disclose a current outage. No vulnerability report, incident, support ticket, acknowledgement, remediation, or response time was observed.

Support and update statements are time-sensitive documentation records, not a guarantee that a device will remain supported. Check the current primary record: petlibro.com.

Fi Series 3+: membership, privacy, deletion, and warranty are documented; exact support duration and an exact public vulnerability route remain unresolved.

Tractive DOG 6: product, subscription, cancellation, deletion, and vulnerability routes are documented; price rendering is location-sensitive and no exact minimum support period was established.

AirTag: current item-finding price, firmware, Find My security, and account removal are documented; it has no dedicated recurring plan, no pet-specific positioning, and no exact public support-end date in the retained record.

Petcube Cam 360: current product, Care plans, vulnerability route, and support-through-2028 statement are visible; the privacy notice is materially dated and device unlink is not complete deletion evidence.

Furbo3: product, plans, security guidance, and support-through-at-least-2028 are documented, but official offer, retention, and deletion/cancellation records retain critical conflicts.

Wyze Cam Pan v3: current product, plan, privacy, deletion, vulnerability, and status routes are visible; the exact model support-end date was not found.

PETLIBRO PLAF301: current product, optional service, privacy/data controls, sharing, and support-through-2027 are visible; exact vulnerability and incident-status routes were not found.

PetSafe PFD00-16828: product price and no-required-core-plan architecture are visible; exact deletion, update duration, support period, vulnerability, status, and household-role records remain sparse.

Conflicts, stale records, and unknowns

The report does not repair conflicts by selecting the most convenient official page.

Question What to verify Fail-closed treatment
Exact identity Can you name the exact model, market, app, plan, and seller path? Stop if the record belongs to a sibling or older model.
Price Is the amount regular, promotional, bundled, first-year, or checkout-only? Keep tax, shipping, activation, accessories, and renewal separate.
Recurring plan Is it required, optional, or not applicable to the core job? Do not compare annual monthly-equivalent text as monthly billing.
Cancellation Does stopping renewal end a commitment or reverse an order already processing? Keep confirmation and monitor the payment method.
Privacy Is the notice current, dated, product-specific, and readable? A policy is disclosure, not proof of implementation.
Deletion Are device unlink, account deletion, data deletion, and billing cancellation separate? Do not assume one action completes all four.
Support lifecycle Is an exact support-end date public? Do not substitute a warranty, sale page, or help center.
Security/status Can you find a vulnerability route and a live service-status/support route? Not found means bounded evidence gap, not proof of absence.

Read the baseline as a buyer checklist: unresolved fields identify what to verify before purchase, setup, sharing, or renewal.

Furbo has the most material retained conflicts: camera-only and promotional offers use different structures; annual plan displays retain small rounding differences; cloud-retention records differ; and deletion/cancellation effects are not fully consistent. The correct output is “resolve before unqualified synthesis,” not a bad-product label.

Petcube’s policy age, Wyze’s missing exact-model support date, PetSafe’s sparse lifecycle/security documentation, and the many missing exact vulnerability routes remain visible. A missing document is not evidence that an internal process is absent. It is evidence that the buyer cannot verify it from the retained public record.

Why the 2026 report is baseline-only

This is the first retained comparable edition. It therefore does not say that any vendor improved, worsened, became more transparent, removed support, raised prices year over year, or stayed the same.

A future edition can make a direction claim only after it preserves this snapshot, uses a compatible field dictionary, reconciles model succession, identifies the changed source, and separates documentation change from implementation change. For example, “not found” becoming “current public record” proves only that the documentation became findable under the method. It does not prove the product became more secure.

Refresh, corrections, and version control

The baseline should be refreshed at least annually and sooner after a model replacement, service shutdown, plan restructuring, privacy-policy rewrite, support-period change, new vulnerability route, account migration, major incident, recall, or verified correction.

Each future version should retain the old package, record source replacements, preserve conflicts, document field-dictionary changes, and state whether public conclusions need correction. Product retirement and webpage disappearance require investigation; neither is automatically evidence that a capability disappeared on the same date.

The research and writing process follows Pet Signal Guide’s published evidence method.

Buyer checklist

  • Write down the exact product, model, seller, market, app, and plan before comparing anything.
  • Separate regular hardware, promotion, required service, optional service, tax, shipping, activation, accessories, and renewal.
  • Read cancellation and account-deletion instructions before purchase—not after a problem.
  • Check the privacy notice date and whether it covers the exact ecosystem.
  • Look for a data export/deletion route, but keep billing cancellation and device unlink separate.
  • Look for an exact support-end date rather than substituting the warranty.
  • Find the vulnerability-reporting and service-status routes before relying on the product.
  • Check whether household users have separate identities, roles, revocation, and notification controls.
  • Save current terms and confirmation records without storing passwords, tokens, or private video.
  • Treat any missing or conflicting required field as a decision input—not as zero or a pass.
