What a GPS virtual fence can – and cannot – do
The pet location technologies explainer separates positioning from data delivery. A GPS virtual fence adds a stored or synchronized boundary, a product algorithm, feedback hardware, dog training, property rules, and supervision. Some products add cellular tracking and alerts, but those remote features still depend on a separate delivery chain.

GPS drift, blockage, and signal-state changes
GPS.gov explains that user accuracy depends on the receiver, satellite geometry, blockage, reflections, atmosphere, installation, and local environment. Buildings, garages, large windows, metal, tree canopy, hills, valleys, and partial sky view can change the collar’s estimated position or its confidence.

Property geometry and boundary design
Virtual fences need usable space inside their warning and feedback envelope. A line that fits on a map may not fit safely around buildings, gates, driveways, roads, water, neighboring property, narrow passages, or areas with poor sky view.

Fence creation, assignment, synchronization, and updates

The collar’s local boundary behavior and the owner’s remote visibility are different systems.
